What is Counselling / Therapy?
Therapy, also called psychotherapy or counseling, is the process of meeting with a therapist to resolve problematic behaviors, beliefs, feelings, relationship issues, and/or somatic responses (sensations in the body). Through therapy, you can change self-destructive behaviors and habits, resolve painful feelings, improve your relationships, and more.
Am I right for Counselling?
If you are a human then counselling is for you! You do not need to have trauma or have gone through a difficult time to seek out counselling. Everyone has stressors in their lives and therapy is a place to talk about any and all of them. Therapeutic sessions are done in a serene and peaceful environment where individuals do not feel guilty or insecure. It is a safe space to explore, learn and get to know yourself better.
What are your qualifications?
PG Cert in Gambling Addiction (Level 9), Bachelor in Counselling & Addiction (Level 8), Diploma in Substances Misuse & Addiction Studies (Level 7), QQI Special Purpose Award in Training, Development & Design. Both therapists are accredited members of Addiction Counsellors of Ireland (ACI).
What do you specialise in?
Both therapists are specialised in Addiction counselling as well as a range of other therapeutic skills including General Counselling, Group Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, Person Centered Therapy & Trauma Informed Care.
What are your fees?
We charge a flat rate fee per session. We also operate on a sliding scale model for students, low income households and individuals who may be on social welfare.
Is it confidential?
Sessions are always strictly confidential between client and therapist. The only time when a therapist may involve a third party is if the therapist feels the client may be a danger onto others or themselves. Therapist also have a duty of care and a code of ethics they must follow.
How can I access your services?
We take self referrals via email (info@personsupported.com), through the contact form via the contact page or from your GP. We also take referrals from various community groups and the general public.
Do you work with Adolescences?
Yes, we work with individuals who are under 18 years old. Consent from a parent and guardian must be given in each case and we follow all ethical principals such as Children First of safely working with minors.
